Game Recap

The Clinton Redskin varsity football team finished the regular season with a 55-12 victory over Adrian-Madison. The win secures a spot in the MHSAA Division 7 State Play-offs. Scoring for the Redskins were Eathan Hicks- 3 yard run, Robbie Campbell-40 yard reception, Michael Sprau- 12 yard run, Clay Langer- 46 yard run, 28 yard pass, 37 yard pass, Trevor Underwood-45 yard run and Dylan Settles-45 yard run. Place kicker Anton Ellerman converted 7 extra point kicks. Langer led the team in rushing with 110 yards on 8 carries. Underwood (2-48), Sprau (5-39), Clark Nelson (1-6), Hicks (3-14), Noah Comar (2-46), Christian Minard (3-14), Settles (1-45), Jack Voll (1-8), AJ Baxter (1-2), David Campbell (1-2), Brayden Randolph (2-8), Creed Ahrens (1-9), Logan Austin (1-2) and Ian Root (1-2) had rushing yardage. Nelson completed 3 of 4 passes good for 100 yards. Campbell (1-40) and Langer (2-60) had the receptions. Creed Ahrens, Trent Sexton, Gabe Gibbs, Will Felts, Brendan Branscum, Conner Brodie, Keegan Degner, Orion Ferrell, Cooper Renaldi, Tyler Bowles, Tyler Szczepanski, Casey Champanois, Riley Jeffrey, Colin Jeffrey blocked well in the trenches. Defensively, Branscum led the team in tackles with 6. Sprau (3, interception), Langer (5), Hicks (3), Comar (3), Minard (1), R. Jeffrey (3), Dane Barton (1), Settles (5), Ian Root (1), Logan Austin (2), Christian Korte (3), Shaun Phifer (3), Cecil rafferty (1), Ahrens (3), Sexton (3, fumble recovery), Jeff Konz 93), Gibbs (1), Felts (2), Brodie (2), Renaldi (2), Voll (2), D. Campbell (2), Randolph (3), Baxter (2), Will Gragg (1) and Bowles (2). Offensive player of the game was Clay Langer while defensive honors went to Brendan Branscum. Special teams player was Anton Elleramn and Creed Ahrens was named Red Army player of the week. Clinton finishes the 6-3 overall and 5-2 in the TCC. The Redskins will now play in the MHSAA Play-offs with an opponent to be named Sunday.

Clinton traveled to Morenci tonight for a TCC double header. The Clinton Lady Redskins went out and swept Morenci in 6 straight games. 25-15, 25-18, 25-10 in the first game and then 25-17, 25-12, 25-8 in the second game.

Leading the team in kills was Saydie Starnes with 18 kills and a hitting percent at .406 next in kills was Amanda Schaare with 14 kills on the night and a hitting percent of .278. Lindsey Burton had 10 kills with a .389 hitting percent while Brianna Burton had 9 kills and hit .190. Ali Elwart had 51 assists, 27 points, 8 aces and 12 digs. Allyson Schmidt had 18 digs, 19 points, 4 aces, and 9 serve receive passes. Rilee Szczesniak had 10 digs, 8 aces, 17 points, 9 serve receive passes. Tessia Struck had 9 aces and 16 points, while Breece Phillips had 4 digs, 8 aces, 14 points, and 11 serve receive passes. Chloe Pike had 3 kills, 1 assists, 1 block. Kaitlyn Clegg had 7 kills, 4 assists, 10 digs, 5 aces, 7 points, and 26 serve receive passes.

Overall Clinton’s team serving percent on the night was 92.3%. Clinton Varsity Volleyball is 18-19-3 on the season. They travel to LCS on Saturday for their last tournament of they year. They start play at 9:00 am. Followed by districts on Monday, October 30th at 7 pm in Addison against Addison High School.

​Tonight the J.V. Volleyball girls traveled to Morenci for a TCC doubleheader matchup. It would be the girls last game of the season. The night would start off slow for the girls, but they never gave up and they kept pushing forward and would have to come from behind in a couple of the games. In match one the girls would come out top winning 25-20 and 25-22. Match two on the night the girls would have to come from behind and would keep Morenci to 24 winning 26-24 in set one and in set two the girls would walk away with the win, winning 25-13. They would take both matches tonight.

​On the night Trenity Wheaton had 3 digs, 5 points and 2 aces. Bri Underwood had 4 digs, 7 points and 1 ace. Jaecy Jones had 5 digs, 8 points and 4 aces. Hallie Kittle had 5 kills, 1 block, 7 points and 2 aces. Tess Woerner had 1 kill, 1 block, led the team with 14 digs, 7 points and 4 aces. Megyn Arntz led with 9 kills, 1 block, 1 dig, led with 13 points and 6 aces. Sarah Sclafani had 3 kills and 1 dig, 1 assist. Karlee Szczesniak had 2 kills, 6 digs, 24 assists, 8 points and 3 aces. Lena Korte had 6 kills on the night.

​The JV girls will travel back to Morenci Saturday October 21st where they will play in the JV county tournament starting at 8:30 a.m.

Game Recap

The 7th Grade football team hosted the Trojans of Adrian Madison at Wegner Field for their final contest of the season. The young Redskins were victorious 28-0.
Defensively, Brayden Lehman had 9 tackles, recovered a fumble and returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown. Zak Shadley recorded 5 tackles and recovered a fumble, Nate Smith had 4 tackles, Maxx Stitt and Brandon Felts 3 tackles while Ethan Younts and Frederick Wade each recorded 2 tackles. Brian Baker, Jacob Gilson, Sam Brown, Zack Duford, Payton Keith and Joey Blaze all recorded a tackle.
The offense was led by Brian Baker who had 9 carries for 52 yards a touchdown and a two-point conversion. Zak Shadley had 3 carries for 46 yards and a touchdown. Braydon Lehman had 4 carries for 29 yards, Sam Brown had 5 carries for 22 yards and a two-point conversion while Lucas Richie had 3 carries for 14 yards.
Not only did the team record a zero in the loss column they also recorded a zero in the points against column, as they did not allow an opponent to score all season. In five games the team outscored their opponents by a combined score of 142-00.

Meet Recap

Congrats to the Clinton boys and girls cross country team for each finishing 3rd in the TCC! Last year both boys and girls teams were fifth in the league and so it is great to see improvement! Congrats to the following runners for earning conference honors: Alissa King, Makayla Fletcher, Emma Hampel, Shianne Muessig, Nate Chavez, Noah Smith, Eric Briggs and Lucas Crumb.

The girls were edged out by Adrian Madison with a score of 80 for Clinton and 79 for Madison. It was a close race as only a couple of seconds in a few different spots could have changed the outcome of the race, and in the end, the league standings. As it stands, Sand Creek won the league, Madison was in second and Clinton was in third.

For the girls, Alissa King led the way in 7th place (first team all conference) with 22:52, Makayla Fletcher in 10th (second team all conference) with 23:28, Emma Hampel in 18th (all conference honorable mention) with 24:38, Shianne Muessig in 20th (all conference honorable mention) with 24:44, Chelsea Scheffler in 25th with 25:12, Bri McNatt in 26th with 25:13, Ashley Bouse in 28th with 25:53, Faith Ford in 37th with 27:15, Mia Hayes in 46th with 29:11, Ashleight DesJardins in 49th with 31:18, Izzy VanTuyle in 52nd with 32:07, Emily Evers in 53rd with 33:24, Jordan Hurley in 54th with 33:25 and Anna Young in 56th with 36:15.

For the boys, Nate Chavez led the way in 4th place (first team all conference) with 18:01, Noah Smith in 11th with 18:51 (second team all conference), Eric Briggs in 12th with 18:54 (second team all conference), Lucas Crumb in 20th (all conference honorable mention) with 19:20, Steven Posa in 22nd with 19:49, Todd King in 31st with 20:37, Daniel Shovels in 34th with 20:41, Brandon Beach in 46th with 21:36, Nick Walters in 52nd with 22:15, Nick Oliver in 58th with 23:13, Jacob Huddleston in 61st with 23:19, Sean Moore in 62nd with 23:26 and Kyle Settles in 79th with 26:39.

Clinton hosted its annual Cancer game tonight against Sand Creek. Clinton came out and took the first game fast with a score of 25-8, then Clinton took the next two games as well with a score of 25-14 and 25-23.

Leading the team was Senior Amanda Schaare with 12 kills, hitting .200 %, 2 blocks, 2 service points, and 1 serving ace. Senior Ally Schmidt led the team with 16 digs, 9 serving points, and 8 serve receive passes. Kaitlyn Clegg had 8 kills, 6 digs, 4 points, and 16 serve receive passes. Ali Elwart had 29 assists, 4 digs, and 9 points. Brianna Burton had 6 kills, hitting .455 tonight, with 11 service points and 3 aces. Lindsey Burton had 3 kills while Saydie Starnes and Chloe Pike had 2 kills each on the night. Saydie’s hitting was a .200 hitting percent. Rilee Szczesniak had 5 digs, 8 service points, and 7 serve receive passes. Tessia Struck had 3 digs and 3 points while Breece Phillips had 2 digs and 4 points. Clinton’s team serving percent was 86.8 %.

Clinton is 16-19-3 on the season and 7-5 in the TCC.

Clinton travels to Morenci on Thursday for their last TCC game of the season. Double header starts at 5 pm. Then Clinton finishes the week at the Lenawee Christian tournament on Saturday starting at 9 am. Clinton then has their 1st district game on Monday, October 30, 2017 against Addison at Addison High School starting at 7pm.

​Tonight, the Clinton J.V. volleyball team played in their home game in a TCC matchup against Sand Creek. Tonight, was also their cancer game where all the girls played for someone who has had cancer. In set one the girls would have a strong serving game where most of the points came from. The girls would win set one 25-8. Set two would start off slow and with some talking and working hard the girls would win 25-15. Taking the match 2-0 and winning another TCC matchup.

MS Girls Volleyball PinkOut Game a HUGE success!
The Clinton 7th grade girls volleyball team ended their season by losing a close match to the Aggies of Sand Creek on Mon., 10/16 scores of 25-15, 19-25, and 22-25. Top scoring on the night was put forth by Emma Fair with 9 pts (all aces); Breanna Ramos with 7 pts (6 aces); Riley Hack with 4 pts (3 aces); Noelle Riley and PJ Gregg with 3 pts each; Jadyn Rochowiak, Sydney Schuler, and Sophia Sheneman each contributed 2 pts; and rounding out the scoring was Brynn Frederick, Lexington Lawler, and Griffin Faulkner with 1 pt a piece. In the meantime, the teams combined to raise over $500.00 for Braylon Griggs, a 7th grade CMS student who is battling cancer. “I am so proud of ALL of these girls for their hard work in helping out their fellow classmate! It says a lot about their character to play a hard fought game yet keeping perspective about putting others before themselves,” said Coach Ginny Krauss.
“We are also so pleased with all of the fans from Clinton AND Sand Creek for their support in our endeavors. I heard that the donations coming in were from many kind-hearted fans from both sides of the court. Hearing that really warms my heart,” she added.
The girls finished up the season with a 9-3 record.
