Clinton traveled to Addison tonight for their first district game against Addison. They won in three straight games with scores of 25-20, 25-20, and 25-14.

Leading the team was Brianna Burton with 10 kills while Amanda Schaare had 9. Ali Elwart had 25 assists, 2 aces, and 6 points. Saydie Starnes had 5 kills while Rilee Szcznesiak had 5 digs, 8 service points, and 6 serve receive passes. Kaitlyn Clegg had 3 kills, 13 digs, 3 aces, 5 points, and 22 serve receive passes. Ally Schmidt had 9 digs, 3 aces, 11 points, and 10 serve receive passes. Megyn Arntz had 4 kills and 1 solo block while Lindsey Burton had 1 kill and 1 block. Breece Phillips had 4 digs, 3 aces, 9 service points, and 7 serve receive passes.

Clinton Volleyball is 19-21-5 on the season and travels to Hudson on Wednesday to play Napoleon at 7 pm.

Meet Recap

Congrats to Clinton High School on a great season! The CHS harriers finished their season at their regional meet at Willow Metropark on Saturday. The day was perfect with cool temperatures and little wind which helped a number of runners earn their season best times. Overall, Clinton boys were in 9th place and the girls ended up in 10th.

Freshman Alissa King crossed the finish line first for Clinton in 24th place with 21:55, Makayla Fletcher in 45th with 23:08, Chelsea Scheffler in 57th with 24:01, Shianne Muessig in 67th with 24:38, Bri McNatt in 68th with 24:46, Emma Hampel in 69th with 24:53 and Ashley Bouse in 73rd with 25:13.

For the boys, freshman Nate Chavez crossed the finish line first for the team at 18:05 in 29th place followed by freshman Eric Briggs in 18:26 in 34th place. Noah Smith ran 18:45 for 44th place, Todd King came in 57th with 19:27, Steven Posa in 62nd with 20:07, Daniel Shovels in 64th with 20:25 and Brandon Beach in 65th with 20:32.

Congrats to Clinton High School in a solid performance at the final invite of the season at Sand Creek High School! Clinton brought home 10 individual medals and was 3rd for both boys and girls.

Meet Recap

At Sand Creek, Clinton’s MS Cross Country girls continued impress with another 1st place finish in the 12 team field. The boys placed 6th overall.

The girls were led by Cassie McNatt (3rd), Samantha Coots (6th), Maliah Piatt (11th), Allison Bowles (14th), and Emma Shankland (33rd) to round out the scoring. McNatt, Coots, Piatt, and Bowles medaled for Clinton. The girls finished the season winning 5 of the last 6 invitationals while placing runner-up at the County Championships.

The boys were led by medalist Gabe Nelson. Caden Zbikowski, Eric Neff, Lucas Goodman, and Bridger Freeman rounded out the scoring.

Game Recap

Today the J.V. volleyball team played in the county tournament in Morenci. In pool play the girls would face TCC foe Sand Creek for match one. They would win 25-17 and 25-15. In the second match up in pool they would face off against Onsted and would split losing 18-25 and coming back and winning set two 25-19. In their final match of pool, they would face off with Adrian and would fight hard and lose 23-25 and 18-25. In pool the girls would come out 3-3 and would be the wild card #1 seed going into the gold bracket. We would face off against the #1 seed in our pool which was Onsted in quarterfinals. Here is where the girls would come out on top and would beat them in set one 25-17, and then Onsted would come back and win a close second set 24-26, which then would set up a third set winning 20-18. With the win the girls would go into the semifinals and would then face off against Tecumseh. The girls would lose both sets 16-25 and 14-25 to the tournament champions ending their season with a 3rd place finish at the JV county tournament and ending the day going 2-2-1.

​On the day Trenity Wheaton had 1 kill, 8 digs, 15 points and 4 aces. Bri Underwood had 9 digs, 2 points and 1 ace. Jaecy Jones had 1 kill, a team high 25 digs, 4 points, 2 aces and 1 assist. Hallie Kittle had 3 kills, 1 block, 3 digs, 9 points and 2 aces. Tess Woerner had 11 kills, 1 block, 19 digs, 19 points and 9 aces. Megyn Arntz had 8 kills, 2 blocks, 1 dig, 18 points and 7 aces. Sarah Sclafani had 1 kills, 1 block, 7 digs and 2 assists. Karlee Szczesniak had 8 kills, 14 digs, led the team with 33 points and a team high 11 aces and 37 assists. Lena Korte had a team high 13 kills, 2 blocks and 1 dig on the day.

Clinton traveled to Lenawee Christian Schools today for their Cougar Cup. Clinton went 0-1-2 in pool play playing good competition. They split with both Vandercook Lake 25-13 and 17-25. Then against Hillsdale Academy they split 25-21 and 17-25. Then Clinton finished pool play against Camden with a loss at 22-25 and 11-25. They then played Manchester in the quarterfinals and lost 20-25 and 21-25.

Overall on the day, Coach Loftis noted, that Clinton played much better volleyball with effort and doing the little things as a team to win a few games. Leading in kills for the Redskins was Amanda Schaare with 23 kills, Kaitlyn Clegg followed with 13 kills, 23 digs, 58 serve receive passes, and 5 points. Saydie Starnes had 12 kills and 3 blocks while Lindsey and Brianna Burton had 9 kills each. Brianna also had 4 points and 7 blocks! Ali Elwart led the team in serving points with 38 points, 13 aces, 63 assists, and 18 digs. Ally Schmidt had 47 digs, 9 points, and 43 serve receive passes while Rilee Szczesniak had 12 digs, 11 points, and 14 serve receive passes. Breece Philips had 10 digs, 11 points, and 12 serve receive passes. Clinton’s team serving percent on the day was 92.8 % and overall team hitting at .135%

Clinton’s overall season record is 18-21-5. They travel to Addison for their first round of districts on Monday, October 30th at 7pm against Addison. With a win against Addison they will travel to Hudson to play on Wednesday, November 1st at 7 pm.

Meet Recap

At Hudson Mills Metropark, Clinton’s MSXC girls team continued to bring home the hardware with a 1st place finish in the 5th-6th grade race at the Michigan Mega Meet. Samantha Coots (6th), Allison Bowles (8th), Maliah Piatt (14th), Paige Shankland (28th), and Emma Shankland (33rd) rounded out the scoring for the 1st place team. Sarah King (club – 52nd) and Emma DesJardins (89th) also medaled for the Redskins. Cassie McNatt placed 85th in the 7th-8th grade girls race. This is the 4th consecutive race that the girls team has brought home a trophy.
The boys 7th-8th grade team placed 17th out of 27 teams. Gabe Nelson (87th) earned a medal while Caden Zbikowski, Eric Neff, Dylan Bowles, and Ethan Washburn rounded out the team scoring. Lucas Goodman (44th) and Bridger Freeman (76th) earned a medal in the 5th-6th grade race.

The Redskins earned 11 medals on the day.
