Game Recap

Today the Clinton J.V. volleyball girls traveled to Vandercook Lake to compete in their tournament. The girls would come out winning the tournament and beating host Vandercook Lake, but first the girls would compete in pool play, also in gold bracket. In pool play they would first face North Adams and would come out on top winning 25-19, 25-14, and 25-11. Next up in pool play the girls would face Springport where the girls would have to play hard and would lose 21-25, then win set two 25-20 and lose set three 10-25. The girls would go 4-2 in pool play where they would be 2nd in their pool and would come out the 5th seeded team overall and make into the gold bracket play. We would then go on to face the 4th seeded Springport team, where the girls would have redemption and would win both sets 25-20 and 28-26. In the semi-finals, the girls would face the 1st place seeded team of the tournament which was Homer. The girls would lose the first set 16-25, but would then come back and win the second set 26-24, forcing a third set. Where we would come out with a 15-10 win to head into the finals. In the championship game of the tournament we would face the host team Vandercook Lake. In the first set we would come out on top winning 25-22, the going on to lose set two 8-25, which would then force a set three where we would come out winning 15-10. The girls played very well overall today as a team, they had a lot of come from behind wins, where they would keep fighting to make it to the top and to keep on winning. They would end 10-4 on the day.

Overall on the day Jaecy Jones led the way in digs with 36, she also had 34 points and 8 aces. Megyn Arntz led the team in kills and blocks with 21 and 30, 24 points, 12 aces and 7 digs. Libbi Fair led the team in points and aces with 41 and 20, she also had 11 kills, 3 blocks and 26 digs. Tess Woerner had 13 kills, 5 blocks, 7 digs, 28 points and 13 aces. Hallie Kittle led with 45 assists, 6 kills, 2 blocks, 9 digs, 14 points and 2 aces for the day.

Next the girls will play at home Tuesday September 19th when they host the Madison Trojans at 5:00 p.m.

Clinton Varsity Volleyball traveled to Onsted today for their Varsity Volleyball Invite. Clinton went 2-2-1 on the day winning the Silver Division!

Clinton had a tough start in a strong pool of teams. They split with Hillsdale Academy 25-21 and 17-25. Next up was Madison who beat Clinton 16-25 and 14-25. For their third game in pool play Hillsdale won 20-25 and 21-25. Even though Clinton had a tough pool we learned a lot and regathered ourselves to come back and win the last 2 games of the tournament.

Stats on the day were:
Leading the team with 27 kills was Amanda Schaare. Amanda also had a key solo block during the opening win against Hillsdale Academy. Kaitlyn Clegg followed with 20 kills, 23 digs, 6 aces, 25 points and 71 service receive passes. Ali Elwart had 74 assists, 20 digs, 13 aces, and 42 points. Ally Schmidt had 59 digs, 13 points, and 59 service receive passes on the day. Saydie Starnes had 18 kills, 4 digs, and 13 service receive passes on the day. Rilee Szczesniak had 16 digs, 13 points, and 13 serve receive passes. Brianna Burton had 16 kills and Lindsey Burton had 6 kills, 2 solo blocks, and 8 points. Our teams serving percentage was 92% on the day with a team total of 27 aces.

Coach Loftis stated, “Our team worked through a lot today and have many things to work on in order to be where we have set our team and individual goals but, I am glad they we are doing this together and building off each game.”

Clinton hosts Adrian Madison on Tuesday starting at 5 pm for JV then travels to Sand Creek Thursday for two TCC matches this week.

The 8th Grade Girls’ Volleyball team were champions of the Hanover Horton tournament on Saturday, September 16. The tournament consisted of 6 teams. Each team played two games against each other. The team with the best record on the day was crowned the champions. The girls ended the day with a 9-1 record overall. Head to head scores were as follows: Clinton vs. Calhoun Christian 21-17, 25-24; vs. Jonesville B 21-8, 21-9; vs. Hanover-Horton 21-5, 21-14; vs. Northwest 21-11, 21-16; and vs Jonesville A 21-18, 6-21. Ashlyn Schmidt was leading scorer for the tournament. She served 34 points (12 aces). Other scorers on the day were Payton Blaze with 25 points (21 aces), Mackenzie Brandvold with 23 points (18 aces), Josilyne Schanz with 21 points, Madalynn Walden with 11 points (5 aces), and Taylor Randolph with 8 points (6 aces). Payton Blaze and Ashlyn Schmidt led the offense as the setters. Ashlyn and Payton also played exceptional defense in the back row. Mackenzie Brandvold, Taylor Randolph, Josilyne Schanz, Maran Major and Davia Welch dominated the net. The Redskins are 6-0-1 on the season and 1-0 in the TCC. They will face off with conference rival Summerfield at home on Monday, September 18.

Game Recap

The Clinton 7th grade girls continued their winning ways by defeating the Comets of Jonesville in a scrimmage held Thurs., 9/14. Scores of the game were 25-6, 22-25, and 25-7. Big serves were the key to pulling off a dominate performance at this scrimmage. Led by Emma Fair who had 8 pts., all of which were ace serves. Second was Breanna Ramos with 7 pts., all ace serves. Other top performers were Sophie Sheneman with 6 pts (all aces); Aaliyah Allen with 5 pts (3 aces); Ava Ormsby also with 5 pts (4 aces); Noelle Riley, Mia Struck, and Pierston Gregg all with 4 pts a piece; Brynn Frederick and Victoria Pace each added 3 pts.; and rounding out the scoring was Kayla Blaze with 2 pts. “I tell the girls all the time that serving is key to winning games and tonight we made almost every serve which contributed to the victory,” said Coach Ginny Krauss.
The girls play in a quad game at Hanover Horton on Sat., 9/16 at 9am and then they are home on Monday, 9/18 vs. Summerfield at 4:30pm.

The Clinton Redskin varsity football team traveled to Morenci on Thursday September 14 for a key TCC match-up and the Redskins came up short losing to the Bulldogs by the score of 26-20. Scoring for Clinton were Clay Langer -59 yard reception from quarterback Clark Nelson, Clark Nelson- 2 yard run, 1 yard run and Mike Sprau a two point pass conversion. Nelson completed 9 of 16 passes good for 138 yards. Langer (5-113), Sprau (3-17) and Robbie Campbell (1-8) had the receptions. The rushing leaders were Eathan Hicks (14-36), Langer (3-11), Nelson (7-0) and Sprau (1-20). Defensively the Redskins were led Eathan Hicks with 10 tackles. Sprau (1), Langer (9), Noah Comar (1, fumble recovery), Campbell (7), Trevor Underwood (4), Logan Austin (1, fumble recovery), Christian Korte (7), Shaun Phifer (6), Creed Ahrens (2), Trent Sexton (4), Jeff Konz (4), Gabe Gibbs (2), Brendan Branscum (2), Billy Baker (4), Brandt Brown (2) and Anton Ellerman (1). Offensive player of the game was Clay Langer while defensive honors was Eathan Hicks. Special teams player was Mike Sprau and Red Army player was Cooper Renaldi. Clinton now stands with an overall record of 2-2 and 1-1 in the TCC. The Redskins will host Sand Creek on Friday with kick-off set for 7pm.

Game Recap

On Thursday, September 14, Clinton hosted the Jonesville Comets for a non-conference scrimmage. The Redskins defeated the Comets with scores of 25-7, 25-14, and 25-16. The Redskins lead scorers were Payton Blaze and Madalynn Walden. Both scored 13 points. Payton had 12 ace serves and Madalynn had 11 ace serves. Other scorers were Josilyne Schanz with 8 points (6 aces), Taylor Randolph with 8 points (5 aces), Ashlyn Schmidt with 4 points (2 aces), Rachel Ureche with 2 points (1 ace), and Mackenzie Brandvold with 2 points. Setters Payton Blaze and Ashlyn Schmidt led the offense with numerous assists. Taylor Randolph was very aggressive at net and recorded several kills. The Redskins are 2-0 on the season. They travel to Hanover-Horton on Saturday, September 16 for a tournament and host the Summerfield Bulldogs on Monday, September 18.

Columbia Central scored with 11 minutes left in the half. Clinton scored 20 seconds later by Jakob York and assisted by Mitchell Drabicki. Columbia Central scored again with 6 minutes and 2 minutes left in the half. Two minutes in the second half Michal Durek scored with an assist from Mitchell Drabicki. Columbia scored two more times ending the game 6-2. Garrett Ramos had 15 saves. Clinton plays at home against Blissfield at 5:30 on Monday.

Game Recap

Tonight, the Clinton JV volleyball team traveled to Britton Deerfield to play in a TCC double header league matchup. Tonight, all the girls played well all the way around, they had some good plays and they played well. The team struggled with serving tonight, which can only get better. In match one the girls would come away with a win in two games winning game one 25-5 and the second game was closer with a 25-19 win. In match two on the night the girls would have to fight and come back from behind in both games. In game one the girls would get a strong serving run from Libero Jaecy Jones with 10 service points, to help get the game one win 25-16. Game two was a much closer game, that was played back and forth, and point by point until the end with a 27-25 win. Both teams fought hard and played a good game of volleyball.

On the night, the Redskins were led by Jaecy Jones with a team high 11 digs, 17 points and 6 aces. Tess Woerner had 4 kills, 2 digs, 20 points and 5 aces. Megyn Arntz had a team high in kills and blocks with 7 and 6, 6 digs, 6 points and 1 ace. Karlee Szczesniak lead with 19 assists, 1 block 5 digs, 18 points and 5 aces.

Next up the JV team will travel to Vandercook Lake on Saturday September 16th for their tournament stating at 8:30 a.m.

Game Recap

The JV Football team defeated League opponent Morenci 22-10 Wednesday night. The Redskins Defensive line of Will Gragg , Tyler Bowles , Brendon Keith and Luke Knight were strong up front in holding the Bulldogs rushing attack under 100 yards. Dylan Settles Sored 2 Td’s and Davey Campbell also scored a touchdown for Clinton. The redskins improve their record to 4-0 and will travel to Sand Creek next Thursday night for a 6pm league contest .
