Game Recap

The Clinton Redskin varsity football team defeated the Summerfield Bulldogs in a key TCC match-up Friday night by the score of 28-24. Scoring for Clinton were Michael Sprau – 25 yard pass reception, Clay Langer- 17 yard run, Clark Nelson- 7 yard run, Noah Comar- 2 point run and kicker Anton Ellerman converting 2 extra point kicks and field goals of 22 and 29 yards respectively. Nelson showcased his talents on the ground by rushing the ball 15 times for 80 yards and through the air completing 8 of 11 passes good for 185 yards. Langer added 60 yards of rushing while Eathan Hicks (3-6), Trevor Underwood (2-10) added rushing yards. Robbie Campbell came up big with some key receptions hauling in three for 75 yards while Comar (3-58) Sprau (1-25) and Langer (1-25) added receptions. Up front, Will Felts, Trent Sexton, Billy Baker, Brandt Brown and Conner Brodie protected well and rushed blocked with improvement. Defensively, Langer had 6 tackles and an interception to lead the defense. Hicks (4), Comar (5), Campbell (4), Christian Minard (2), Riley Jeffrey (1), Underwood (1), Christian Korte (3), Shaun Phifer (3), Cecil Rafferty (2), Creed Ahrens (5), Sexton (3), Jeff Konz (1). Hicks, Langer, Phifer, Rafferty, Sexton and Konz had multiple tackles for loss while Hicks and Sexton recovered fumbles. Special teams were a factor with the Redskins winning that phase led by Sprau, Langer, Hicks, Comar, Campbell, Minard, Jeffrey, Underwood, Logan Austin, Tyler Szczepanski, Phifer, Konz, Jacob Prater, Brendan Branscum, Baker, Brodie, Brown, Keegan Degner and Ellerman. Offensive player of the game was Clark Nelson while defensive honors went to Clay Langer. Special teams player was Anton Ellerman and Orion Ferrell was named Red Army player of the week. The team improves to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the TCC. The team hosts Britton-Deerfield on Friday for the annual homecoming game. Kick-off is 7pm.
