Game Recap

The skies opened up as the Redskins took the field tonight to finish off their regular season against Jackson Christian in their ISL crossover match. The rain seemed to get the best of Clinton first half as passes skidded out of bounds and out of reach of their intended targets. Jackson Christian was able to find the net twice and hold the Redskins for about 15 minutes before Clinton got on the board. With just six minutes remaining in the half, Taylor Tschirhart scored after receiving a through ball from Kylee Doty. Shortly thereafter, Tschirhart scored again after receiving a ball from Alexia Rolland. The Redskins were able to hold Jackson Christian and get out of the half tied up at 2.

At halftime, the Clinton seniors were honored for the hard work and dedication they have put in during their high school careers. The love and support seemed to uplift them as they began the second half. They maintained possession and had many, many shots that just barely missed. With 19 minutes left to play, Taylor Tschirhart was able to complete her hat trick after receiving a pass inside the box from Alexis Bailey. A minute later, Alexis Bailey scored after Maria Kovach passed the ball across the top of the eighteen to her. With 12 minutes to play, Tschirhart beat the goalie again after Alexia Rolland fed her into the box. Maria Kovach came close three separate times hitting the posts and finally scored with 7 to play off an assist from Alexia Rolland. The girls truly enjoyed themselves and finished off their regular season on a very positive note with great play on all thirds of the field.

Clinton will begin their pursuit of their second district title on Tuesday against Manchester at 5:30. The game will be played at Manchester.
