The Clinton Middle School boys’ track team defeated Morenci 77-51 in their final home meet of the year. In the shot put, Jack Voll (38′ 9″) was first and Luke Knight (32′ 10.5″) was second. Landis Gillman was second in the long jump at 14′ 1″ and Gavin Scott was third at 13′ 4″. AJ Baxter and George Ames tied for first in the pole vault at 7′ 6″ and Ridge Ahrens and Jacob Huddleston tied for third in the high jump at 4′ 4″. Nate Chavez (12:14) and Gabe Nelson (12:58) continued their strong seasons in the 3200m run finishing first and second. The 800m relay team of Ahrens, Gillman, Spencer Konz and Davey Campbell won with a time of 1:56.6. Fabian Ramirez contributed to the scoring placing second in the 800m run with a time of 2:37. Eric Briggs had a strong run in the 1600m, winning with a time of 5:37 and Nelson was third in 6:17. Clinton swept the 100m dash with Voll winning in 13.5 seconds, Brayden Randolph right on his heels at 13.8 and Kent McCombs placing third in 14.2. Baxter won the 400m dash in 1:05 and the 3200m team of Chavez, Briggs, Ramirez and Ryan Doty won in 10:56. Campbell was second in the 70m dash at 9.4 seconds and Gillman was third in 9.7. Ramirez was second in the 200m hurdles at 34.3 and Carter Keith was third in 39.2 seconds. Huddleston and Doty finished in first and second with times of 39.4 and 32 seconds, respectively. Finishing the scoring for Clinton was the 1600m relay team of Chavez, Briggs, Ramirez and Konz with a time of 4:39.
