Game Recap

Some beautiful soccer was played by the Clinton Redskins this evening on their way to beating Onsted 5-1. The scoring began just six minutes in when Kylee Doty took a shot from outside the 18 off of a rebound from Taylor Tschirhart’s shot. Two minutes later, Tschirhart scored her first of the night after winning the ball off an Onstes defender. She got in behind the defense to go on a breakaway and score. With seventeen left to play in the half, Bri McNatt was able to poke the ball past the keeper after being fed by Kylee Doty in the box. The Redskins finished off the half with solid possession.

Not far into the second half, Onsted was able to get on the board after Clinton lost the ball around the half. With quick transition, they got in behind the defense and finished against freshman goalkeeper, Sarah Sclafani. With 25 minutes left in the game, Rory Kelly was able to feed Taylor Tschirhart in the box by splitting the Onsted defense and Tschirhart was able to finish. Finally, with seven minutes left, Tschirhart was able to complete the hat trick after Alexis Bailey split the defense again to send her on another breakaway.

Clinton’s defense did a phenomenal job chasing down Onsted’s quick forwards and denying them several opportunities to even the score. They quick transition out of the back aided in the win this evening since the possession began with them.

Clinton will return to Onsted on Saturday to compete in the Onsted Invitational beginning at 8:30am.
