The varsity wrestling team has earned Academic All State for the fourth consecutive year through the Michigan Wrestling Coaches Association (MWA). This year’s team earned a cumulative G.P. A. of 3.47. This is a direct result in the after school tutoring at the high school, the team study hall twice a week that is ran by Mr. Posa, and the effort from the student-athletes. The coaches and team take pride in this achievement and continuing to place academics in the forefront of their lives. In order to qualify a team must have a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.2 or higher.
This year’s team also saw one of our seniors earn Individual Academic All State Honors, in Austin Popp. This is an honor that is given to only seniors with a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher that have qualified for the MHSAA Individual State Finals at some point in their high school careers. Austin Popp has qualified for the Individual State Tournament three times, and earning All State twice. He currently has a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.635. Austin plans to continue his education in college by pursuing a degree in nursing. He also plans to wrestle in college and has narrowed his decision down between two colleges with an announcement coming soon. Congratulations to all for the academic achievements.
