The Clinton varsity wrestling team won their 3rd district title in 4 years with a 76-6 win over Lutheran Westland High school in their gym. The match was never close as it started at 103 with a pin in :45 from Nate Darm and another pin from Brandon Beach at 112 in :47. Clinton lost at 119 to make it 12-6 and Lutheran Westland couldn’t find a win the rest of the way. Noah Comar had a pin in 1:05 at 125. Riley Jeffrey won at 130 with a pin in 2:44 and senior co-Captain Fletcher Mellinger got his pin in 1:30. Lutheran Westland then decided to void at 140 (Jeffrey Konz), 145 (Garrett Phillips), 152 (Jake Phillips), and 160 (Eathan Hicks) to put the score at 54-6. Joel Couture got a major decision at 171 19-6. Trent Sexton received a void at 189. Austin Popp pinned his opponent in 5:14 and Josh Brown took a void at heavyweight for the final margin. In the semi-finals Clinton won 84-0. The Redskins record now stands at 26-7 for the season. This Saturday we host the individual districts before hosting the team regionals on Wednesday the 15th  at 5pm with a chance to advance to the team state finals at Central Michigan University’s McGuirk Arena on the line.
