The Clinton Redskin varsity boys track team competed in the TCC league championships at Summerfield High School on May 25th and the following performances were turned in. Taking golds were Mathew Sexton -100m (10.82) and 200m (22.5), Noah Poore- long jump (20’1″), Huntter Trubiano- 300m hurdles (39.84) a new school record, the 400m relay team of Trubiano, Kenny DeShano, Poore and Sexton (44.24- a new meet record) and the 1600m relay team of Trubiano, Blake Rogers, Brad Gilbert and DeShano (3:39). Silver medals went to the 800m relay team of Trubiano, DeShano, Poore and Sexton. Taking bronze was DeShano in the shot put and Lucas Crumb in the 100 hurdles. Other who placed in the top 6 to score points for the Redskins included Poore-6th in the 100m, Rogers -5th in the 400m, Gilbert- 6th in the 400m, Gene Dudek -5th in the 800m and 1600m, Crumb-4th in the 300 hurdles, 3200m relay-5th consisting of Zachary Matthews, Noah Smith, Christian Minard and Dudek, Riley McLaughlin-4th in the shot put, Joe Spence- 4th in the discus, Liam Tapp – 6th in the discus with a seasons best throw of 113 feet 1 inch, and Garrett Phillips-6th in the pole vault. Clinton accumulated 103.5 points good for second place behind league champion Adrian-Madison who scored 147 points. The team finishes second overall in the TCC with a fine 5-2 record and several top 5 finishes in 6 invitations on the year. Mathew Sexton Noah Poore, Kenny DeShano, Huntter Trubiano, Joe Spence, Riley McLaughlin and Lucas Crumb will compete in the MHSAA State Finals on Saturday June 4th at Comstock Park High School to wrap up the very successful 2016 track and field season.
