The Clinton Redskin boys track team had an impressive showing on Friday May 20th competing in the MHSAA Division 3 Regional’s at Erie Mason High School placing second with 135 points. Dundee won the event with 143 points.The Redskins had nine first place finishes on the night and qualified 7 athletes to the MHSAA State finals that will be held June 4th at Comstock Park HS in Grand Rapids. The shot put featured Kenny DeShano (45-1) 1st place, Riley Mclaughlin (44-6) 2nd both qualifying for the state meet, the pole vault where Noah Comar (10-0) placed third, the long jump featuring State final bound Noah Poore (20-3.5) 1st place and Veneri Korkee (17-3) good for 9th place. Joe Spence won the discus (116-1) qualifying for States and Liam Tapp contributed a throw of 112-10 good for fourth place. The 3200 meter relay team of Zachary Matthews, Noah Smith, Christian Minard and Gene Dudek placed 4th (8:57). Lucas Crumb was a regional champion in the 110 high hurdles (15.84) while Mathew Sexton won the 100m (11.0) both qualifying for States. Noah Poore finished 6th in the 100m (11.9). The 800m relay team of Huntter Trubiano, DeShano, Poore and Sexton were regional champions (132.1) and headed to the State meet as was the 400m relay (44.1) consisting of the same four athletes. Gene Dudek placed 6th in the 1600m run (4:55), and Blake Rogers was 6th in the 400m (55.2). Trubiano is headed to States in the 300m hurdles (41.8) placing 1st, while Dudek finished 4th in the 800m (2:07). Sexton earned the right to run at States in the 200m with a winning time of 22.8. Freshman Trevor Underwood placed 7th in the 200m with a time of 25.1. Dudek (11:39) and Fletcher Mellinger (12:16) placed 15th and 18th respectively in the 3200m run. The team will compete Wednesday May 25th in Summerfield for the 2016 TCC league meet.
