The Clinton 8th Grade Girls’ Volleyball won the Manchester Tournament on Saturday, October 7. The girls came out of their pool play in 1st place with a 5-1 record. They defeated Jonesville (15-9, 15-9) and Milan (15-2, 15-13) , but split with Colombia Central (15-9, 6-15). The girls then played Blissfield, the 1st place team from the other pool for the championship. Clinton defeated Blissfield in two sets with scores of 21-14 and 21-16. Madalynn Walden was the top server of the day. She served up 27 points (10 aces). Other scorers included Payton Blaze with 16 points (12 aces), Ashlyn Schmidt with 12 points (4 aces), Taylor Randolph with 10 points (5 aces), Mackenzie Brandvold with 10 points (1 ace), and Josilyne Schanz with 4 points. “The girls really came together as a team today. They played aggressively and had excellent communication and execuation,” said Coach Gilson. The Redskins are 5-1 in the TCC and 14-1-2 overall. The girls play Britton-Deerfield at home on Monday, October 9.
