The varsity wrestling team won its second ever regional title Wednesday night beating Memphis in the final 64-12. In the first round Clinton cruised to a 75-6 win over Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest. The final match started at 119. Noah Comar won in a fall in just :43 to start the dual. The win also was Noah’s 100th career victory. It is the fastest anyone has ever reached 100 wins for the Redskins. Christian Minard took the mat at 125 pounds and claimed a 7-1 decision. Anthony Stockdale and Fletcher Mellinger received voids to make the score 21-0. Memphis got a pin at 140 but Garrett Phillips and Eathan Hicks got a win and a pin before another Memphis pin made the team score 30-12. Clinton would not lose another match getting a pin from Trent Sexton, Voids to Austin Popp and Josh Brown, a 14-2 decision by Nate Darm, and a pin by Brandon Beach for the final of 64-12. The Redskins will now travel to the team state meet at Central Michigan University’s McGurik Arena the 24th and 25th of February.
