Game Recap

The 8th Grade Volleyball Team earned 1st place in the Sand Creek Invitational on Saturday, October 15. The Redskins came out of pool play with a record of 4-2. They split their games with Madison with scores of 21-16 and 16-21. They also split with LCS with scores of 17-21 and 21-7. They defeated Summerfield both games with scores of 21-8 and 21-18. In the semifinals, the Redskins defeated Sand Creek with scores of 21-15 and 21-19, and in the finals they defeated Summerfield again 21-15 and 21-16. “The girls showed tremendous team work and hustle this weekend,” said Coach Renee Gilson. Leading scorer on the day was Karlee Szczesniak with 26 points, followed by Bri Underwood with 24 points. Other scorers on the day were Tess Woerner with 19 points, Hallie Kittle with 18 points, Laylah Ammons with 11 points and Ryley Baugh with 8 points. Emily Kirk, Lena Korte, Tess Woerner, Arianna Maylone, and Hallie Kittle recorded some nice hits, tips, and kills at the net. Back row specialists Ryley Baugh and Bri Underwood worked hard to keep the ball in play. Karlee Szczesniak led the offense with numerous assists and tip kills. The team’s record is 12-3 in the TCC and 22-8 overall. The Redskins play their final match on Monday, October 17th at home against Madison.
