Game Recap

Wednesday evening’s setting at Deerfield schools brought another victory for the girls 7th grade volleyball team, taking the team’s record to 8-0 in the TCC (8-1 non conference). Scores on the games were 25-10, 25-15, 25-15. Highlights on the night were service points which continues to reward the girls with victories. Top scorer was Rachel Ureche with 12 points (9 aces); Ashlyn Schmidt added 10 points (9 aces); Madalynn Ormsby-Walden added 9 points (8 aces); Mackenzie Brandvold with 8 points (all aces); Josilyne Schanz with 5 points (all aces); and rounding out the scoring was Payton Blaze and Taylor Randolph each with 4 points. Solid defense was put forth by Destiny Crusinberry and Elisa Vasilciuc. Coach Ginny Krauss stated, “We now know what we need to do to win games and hopefully we can continue that trend into our tournament this weekend and even into Monday’s game vs. Madison.” The girls tournament is at Sand Creek Saturday (game time 8am) followed by the PinkOut game on Monday, Oct. 17th home vs. Madison (game time 4:30pm). “I would also like to ask for everyone’s support on Monday as we take on the Trojans of Madison at home at 4:30. This game is our last game and it’s our Annual PinkOut game which means a lot to all of the girls, myself included as my mother suffered (and remains in remission) breast cancer several years ago. Our entry fees are relatively reasonable ($4.00 adults, $2 children, Senior Citizens are FREE as well as Pre-K children) and ALL of the proceeds will go to Breast Cancer Awareness. Come on out and support a good cause AND these girls who have worked so hard all season!” added Coach Krauss. GO SKINS!
